Excellent post and thanks for the links. I particularly like you writing "The goal is not to negotiate or plead", because so often parents apologize for their decisions.

I let my kids watch movies that are consistent with our family values, i.e. exposure to hugs, kisses and implied sex within the context of a positive relationship is OK. Extreme violence is out, but standing up to what you believe is OK within reason and with "parental subtitles".
