Listed below are links to weblogs that reference What kinds of kids' activities should be available in a waiting room?:

Comments

the waiting room at the pediatrician office we go to has two areas: sick and not sick, and they're clearly marked. Airborn germs will still get around, but they also offer face masks for those who are sick.

Each area has Highlights magazines, a lego table, and a bucket of small toys (cars and the like). Each office also has a small bucket of toys and 1-2 larger toys to keep them occupied (and also let the pediatrician evaluate play behavior if necessary, I would assume) during those waiting times.

One office I saw had a little setup with some simple video games. Great for keeping the boredom away for the older kids and teens (the specified age range is 0-17). This is an example http://braceyourself3d.com/panel/galerias/196.jpg
